Important Gods in Aztec Religion 

They  were said to be guided to Mexico by their god Huitzilopochti , meaning "left handed humming bird " or "humming bird from  the south " They founded their civilisation on an island guided by and eagle holding a rattlesnake in it talons , perched on a nopal cactus.

Quetzalcoatl ,sovereign plumbed serpent 
Quetzalcoatl is an important Aztec god the reason being he created humans. The legend goes that Quetzalcoatl took the bones from the underworld and added his own blood to create humans. This is just one of the many theories of how humans were made. He takes the form of a feathered snake like animal. 

Below these three Gods were four creating Gods who kept themselves from  the human world .

The Aztecs had many gods (over 1000) or deities as they were also known some of which were goddesses.
Gods of physical things such as sun ,moon ,stars ,water etc Gods of hope such as  fertility, healing  and sustenance .
