Religons

Picture
The Aztec religion was highly focused on keeping nature in balance. One false step and it could cause a natural disaster or cause the sun to become slow or they feared it would disappear .
The Aztecs had a complicated interaction with gods ,dates ,directions of stars and sun and colors. It appears that the people had a strong belief that their survival depended on a good relationship with their gods.
Religion became a big part of the political structure and religious leaders held very high positions in society .Every 52 years the people were afraid that the world would end and prayed to gods and made sacrifices including many humans to the sun gods to ensure they were safe every 52 years
The roles of religious leaders such as priests in curing disease and maintaining health was very important. Religion impacted on the lives of the people in every thing they did from what they ate to what they did for work . They believe that ill health was linked to how they were in balance with all the gods . The believed that  jewelry, crystals and talismans were symbols of power, healing and protection from injury and sickness. They would use certain colors as protection or healing  and paint this color around them for protection including yellow oxide and a berry red

Religion played a major role in  celebrations in their lives such as births, weddings, reaching adulthood, and death where each occasion called for a special ritual. They believed in the after life and  that the gods would protect you if you were at peace with them in your living life.

Some of these ceremonies including letting human  blood or offering life hearts to the gods . Sometimes when crops were producing poorly the Aztec warriors would go hunting for neighboring civilizations and capture hundreds of them to be sacrificed on  the high priest's alter.
